How to export onboard data of the GroupWise Server to Lotus Notes environment?

Novell GroupWise is a text processing tool for desktop users. It supports Novell Netware Server and extensively used by people for corporate and personal communication. GroupWise can work smoothly on MS Windows, Linux and Macintosh platforms. Users can perform multiple tasks such as email storage, data archiving, online file transfer and task scheduling with Novell GroupWise client.

Lotus Notes is also an email client for computer users. It stores mailbox information of individuals in NSF file format and support Lotus Domino Server. Lotus notes database or NSF file usually contains all emails and email folders of the user mailbox. Both Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes are capable of connecting large number of users with the computer network. However, Novell GroupWise does not use a file format for storage or retrieval of mailbox folders. There are many other reasons that prompt organizations to migrate into Lotus Notes email environment from the GroupWise Server:

  • Rising cost of in-house data storage: Many GroupWise organizations are anxious about the growing cost of mailbox information that prompts them to migrate into another email system such as Lotus Domino Server.
  • Shifting of company office: Shifting or relocation of office is the usual process of many organizations. With office shifting, many IT and IT based companies choose alternate email client like Lotus Notes for business communication.
  • High email efficiency: Both Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Server are collaborative programs that provide secured email environment for organizations. Moreover, organizations can also boost up existing email efficiency by migrating into Lotus Domino environment.
Before migrating into Lotus Domino environment from GroupWise, business organizations must assess their exact mailbox storage needs, existing infrastructure and additional resource requirement. Suppose you plan to hire new personnel in your organization then you need additional mailbox storage space on the new email server. You must also assess exact costs needs to be spent for data storage and security in the Lotus Notes emailing environment.

Both Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes do not have mailbox import/export option. Therefore, individuals or organizations planning to migrate in Lotus Notes environment from GroupWise must choose a third party GroupWise to Notes migration software. You’ll find several third party GroupWise to Notes conversion tools on internet.
